Ironwood Duck. Excellent quality ethnic art, hand carved ironwood. Approximately: 10" long and 5.25" tall. This piece is from my collection. It is an excellent example of Mexican carvings from Bahia Kino, Mexico. I imported thousands of pieces from Kino and the Seri Villages of Punta Chueca and El Desemboque during the 70s & 80s. The Seri Indians were the original carvers of these native animals. The popularity and demand led to these carvings becoming a cottage industry in Kino. While the Seri Indians used mostly rudimentary hand tools the Mexican carvers often used modern tools like chainsaws. If there are regular markings from more modern saws on the bottom of the carving, it is easy to designate the origin as Kino. Pictures are Accurate. This is the item you will receive.
